OUT OF TEN TIMES, this USP of Rajasthan enthuses the tourists to come again
and again. Nowhere else in the world, perhaps, can anyone see such a vibrant
and frequent display of culture and lifestyle as it happens in the fairs and
festivals of Rajasthan. There are literally countless festivals celebrated
in all parts of Rajasthan all the year round. The most important is the
entertainment. Rajasthani people are very fond of entertaining themselves.
Music, dance and acrobatics are integral part of any celebration!

Many
of such fairs have been internationally marketed successfully. Pushkar
cattle fair is such a
SPECTACLE that the entire North India becomes
a hive of tourist activity during that month. Other fairs like those at
Nagaur, Baneshwar and Chandrabhaga are also gaining fame. For the tourists,
special activities and sports events are promoted to enable them assimilate
the local culture and customs. There is simply a lot to do in such events -
photography, photography and
PHOTOGRAPY! Accommodation facilities
are varied, ranging from heritage hotels to guesthouses to specially created
tented villages. Recently a number of fairs such as Desert festival,
Jaisalmer are being organized exclusively for the tourists to promote the
region-specific culture and arts. Tourists can expect appreciable facilities
and hospitality in all such fairs.
FESTIVALS IN RAJASTHAN RANGE FROM MOST POPULAR TO MOST LIMITED BUT ALL
HAVE THEIR SIGNIFICANCE. And all are colourful, distinct and
interesting. There are many festivals such as Diwali and Holi that are
celebrated by one and all and a tourist cannot help but noticing them. Yet,
there are many like Teej that are city and location specific, being at the
right place and right time is most important. Most of these do not follow
the English calendar and hence the dates change every year. For convenience
and better planning, dates till year 2010 of a few (though the actual number
of festivals is very high!) important festivals are given below.
